Learning How B-100 Does Radio Ads - June 7th 2013

B-100 is "Kamloops' At Work Station". GO BOX Storage started doing radio advertising a few months ago.

A few months ago, GO BOX Storage started doing radio ads with B-100. B-100 is known as the "Kamloops' At Work Station" and features diverse music from the past two decades.

Shaen and I know nothing about radio advertising. It was wonderful having Pamela von der Woning help design a radio advertising program customized for our business needs. We later met with the script writer, Katie Neustaeter. Katie writes many of the ads you hear on B-100. Even though we felt totally out of our depth, Katie made designing the radio ad fun.

Here is the first radio ad GO BOX Storage did with B-100. The radio station did get a complaint about the first ad. We used the phase: "Save your frickin sanity and call GO BOX Storage." Someone didn't like the profane language, so "frickin" was cut out in the radio version. Be warned -- I have attached the original version -- with the profanity:
Save Your Frickin Sanity

I found out later that Katie also does some of the "female voices" you hear on B-100 ads. This got me very interested in seeing how B-100 produces the radio ads. I asked Katie if it would be possible to come down to the radio station and see how a radio ad is produced. Richard Woods is the "male voice" in the GO BOX Storage ad while Rick Chapman works the sound room. I could really see making a radio ad is a "team effort".

You can see Rick Chapman at the controls. Katie and Richard are in the sound booth doing the new GO BOX Storage ad. The new ad will be coming out soon.

B-100 will be coming out with a new ad for GO BOX Storage. A big thank you to everyone down at B-100 for letting me come in and see how live-radio is made.
