GO BOX Storage wants to help with your emergency preparation. We are giving away a Black Diamond LED Lantern Flashlight on Facebook.

In most emergency situations, the best place to be is in your own home. If you have to leave your home due to wildfire, flooding, gas leak, earthquake, or some other disaster, having a Got-to-Go Kit will make the experience less stressful and more comfortable.

The Got-to-Go Kit is based on the Bug-out Bag (BOB) or 72-hour kit. These kits have the equipment and supplies needed for a evacuation of 72 hours but can also be used in your home during an emergency. Every household should have a Got-to-Go Kit. Even if your don’t have to evacuate, your Go-to-Go Kit will make a blackout into a fun family camp-out. Being prepared makes good sense and doesn’t need to cost a fortune.

You can buy a prepackaged 72-hour kit or make your own Got-to-Go Kit. The Got-to-Go Kit works with your Every Day Carry (EDC), First Aid Kit, and Personal Safety Kit. These kits will be good for use in your home or during a vehicle based evacuation:

  1. Have an emergency plan; have an alternative plan. Everyone in the family should know about the emergency plan and what to do. Keep it simple!
  2. Have 50-100L of gas or diesel in jerrycans to completely fill your vehicle. Use and replace the fuel at least once a year.
  3. Every able person in the household should have an EDC, First Aid Kit, and Personal Safety Kit and understand how to use the tools and equipment in the kit. These kits should be ready to go at all times.
  4. Have enough water for 72 hours. Have a minimum of 4L of water for every person in the household per day.
  5. Have enough food for 72 hours. The food should be ready to eat and not require cooking or reheating.
  6. Have your Got-to-Go Kit packed and ready to go all the time. Your Got-to-Go Kit can be stored in a two Rubbermaid containers and a hockey bag.
